Weekend Faith with Brother J

What about proclamation 4127?

It was signed by President Richard Nixon on May 1, 1972 making it an official holiday.

This Sunday will be Father’s day. In 1909 Sonora Smart Dobbs proposed the idea and the first Father’s day was first celebrated on June 19, 1910 in Spokane Washington.

She did it to honor her father who raised her and her five brothers and sisters all by himself.

Today many other countries also have a day set aside to honor fathers. Often fathers have to work long hard hours and in difficult and dangerous situations.

They did not ask for the job but God especially designed them for it. Maybe we could do something special for our fathers this Sunday like a card, a phone call, a gift or a simple, “Thanks Dad” or “Dad I love you”.

Wives showing respect to their husband and children honoring their father, (Colossians 3:18 & Ephesians 6:2) can really make his day.

Many times it is difficult for a husband or father to say, “I love you” but they will prove their love by working extra hours to provide for their families.

They prove their love just as God proved His love in sending His only son to die for us,

(John 3:16 & Romans 5:8).

May we never take them for granted!

Fixing his favorite breakfast or bringing him a cup of coffee or a simple hug goes along way.

See you in Church next Sunday.
