Lasley and Gray to pursue Education Degrees

Last week the Borger Classroom Teacher Association announced the scholarship winners for 2022. This year is especially exciting for Borger ISD because two of the recipients will be majoring in education! Landen Lasley and Hope Gray will be pursuing education degrees.

Landen plans on being a coach and teacher with whom students can connect. In his junior year, he began thinking about becoming a coach. A priority for Landen is being a teacher that kids can look up to and connect.

He has already started passing his knowledge on by working with underclassmen to improve their game so they will be ready for the varsity level.

Although he has had teachers through the years that he has connected, Coach Kevin Lasley (his father) has been an inspiration to him to become a teacher/coach.

Hope plans to get her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and physical education so she can become a high school strength and conditioning coach. She would like to be the coach who encourages each athlete to be a better teammate, and individual and helps build their confidence as an athlete. She feels God has called her to be a difference-maker for the athletes she coaches so she can find their true potential and help plant that seed of faith into them.

The reason she chose to become a teacher and coach is because of the impact of the teachers and coaches she has been fortunate to have. One of those educators is Leslie Young.

Congratulations to Landen and Hope! We are excited to see the impact you will have on your future students’ lives!!
