The Egyptians view of the afterlife

Egyptian archeologists are finding new tombs and learning a lot about what ancient Egyptians believed. They had gods for everything. One main belief on the mind of every Egyptian was in the afterlife and they spent a lot of time and effort preparing for it. Life on earth was just part of a journey which could end in not physical death but a new life that could end in everlasting joy. To them the soul did not die but went on to exist somewhere else and being born was a gift from the gods. The beautiful tomb of Tutankhamun or King Tut illustrates this. The Bible talks a lot about an afterlife. First it does say we and everything else was created by One God not numerous gods, (Genesis 1:1, 1:26&27, 1Timothy 3:5&6). Adam and Eve were put in a beautiful garden and could eat anything but one tree God forbade them not to eat of, (Genesis 2:8&9, 2:17). They ate from the one forbidden tree and were separated from God, (Genesis 3:17, 19). We are all separated from God, but He loves and provided a way our sins could be forgiven and have a new relationship with Him, (Romans 3:23,6:23, 5:8, John 3:16). It was by the shed blood of Jesus Christ and our accepting Him as Lord and Savior, (John 1:12, 1 John 1:7, Colossians 1:20, Eohesians 1:7). See you in Church next Sunday.
