Michael Callahan

Michael “Shortarms” Callahan, 69, passed away Monday, November 20, 2023.

Services are pending at this time. Cremation is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mike was born June 27, 1954, in Stuttgart, Germany to Hughie Callahan and Beverly June Bartell Callahan. A devoted husband, he married Marie Ann

Harmon on October 10, 1992, in Pocatello, Idaho. He proudly served in the United States Army. Mike enjoyed grilling papa burgers, smoking hams for the holidays, eating spicy foods, traveling, fishing, and riding motorcycles. He loved to bring a smile to everyone he met, that may come from his keen sense of humor, his witty disposition, or the many jokes he enjoyed sharing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hughie and Beverly; wife, Marie; brothers, Thomas, Patrick and Shawn; sister, Gerladine; and daughter, Melanie Mertz.

Survivors include granddaughter, Melinda DeMarr and husband John DeMarr, granddaughter, Tayleranne Kingham and husband Heath Kingham,

grandson, Daylin Callahan-Truesdell, grandson, Zackeria Truesdell, granddaughter, MisElizzabeth Truesdell, granddaughter, Stephanie Mertz, granddaughter, Allysa Nieves, granddaughter, Jessica Mertz; greatgranddaughter, Alexandra Hudson, great granddaughter, Ashlynn Flowers, great granddaughter, Clairitey Kingham, great grandson Elijah DeMarr, son, Lonny Ricker and fiancé Patricia Brannon, son-in-law, Curtis Truesdell, son-in-law, Ed Mertz; and several other extended family and friends who loved him dearly.

A message from his son: “He will be missed dearly, he always treated me like I was his biological son as opposed to a stepson.”
