Delmar Leon Baldwin

Delmar Leon Baldwin entered into rest on November 25, 2023. He recently celebrated his 80th birthday and was a longtime resident of Borger and Phillips, Texas.

He was residing with his nephew, Darrell Herrin and his wife Desiree in La Porte, Texas.

Delmar was born in Borger, Texas, on September 8, 1943 to Luther E. Baldwin and Lila M. Baldwin (Waits).

Delmar was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Luther Baldwin Jr., Robert Baldwin, Lyle Baldwin, Dorothy Jean Frith, Glenna Eldridge and Orion Herrin .

Delmar was survived by his daughter Randalin Van Alstine, her husband Will McGuire, four grandchildren, Ryan Garner, Rachel Koustik, Jaren and Emily Van Alstine and five great-grandchildren. He also had many nieces and nephews.

Delmar graduated from Phillips High School in 1962 where he was part of the mighty Phillips Blackhawks football team earning a spot on the All State Team in his senior year.

He went on to attend college in El Paso, Texas prior to joining the United States Navy in 1967. Delmar served 3 tours of duty in Vietnam as a “Riverboat Gunner”. He was awarded several medals including the National Service Defense Medal. Upon returning to the United States, Delmar joined Southwestern Public Service ( now Excel Energy) where he worked until retirement. Delmar enjoyed a long retirement spending most of his time with friends and family in around the Borger area. His final years were spent with family in La Porte enjoying his favorite meals and Westerns on TV.

Viewing will be Friday, December 1, 2023 from 10:00 am-12:00 noon at Brown Funeral Directors Chapel of the Fountains, 206 W. 1st Street, Borger. Graveside service will follow at Highland Park Cemetery, 931 Sterling St., Borger at 2:00 pm.

Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors, Borger.
